Graduate Credit for LSI Short Course
Participants in the Laboratory Safety Institute’s (LSI) short courses can earn graduate credit from the University of California-Riverside (UCR). One to four quarter-hour credits are awarded for the successful completion of LSI’s short courses.
In addition to attending the entire short course, participants must complete, and submit to LSI, a report summarizing how they will apply what they have learned in the short course to improving their organization’s lab safety program.
The report should indicate the action plan in three phases:
Immediate: during the first month
Short Term: during the first year
Long Term: during the first five years
The report should anticipate some of the difficulties you might encounter in implementing the plan and what actions would be taken to deal with these anticipated difficulties.
In addition, the 24-hour and 32-hour short courses require the completion of a facilities inspection and program audit.
LSI will send you the credit application form. The completed credit application forms, the report, and a check made out to Laboratory Safety Institute for the appropriate amount ($85.00 per quarter - hour credit) should be sent to LSI. Revision may be requested before reports are accepted for credit.
Accepted reports will be sent to UC Riverside along with the forms needed to apply for graduate credit at UCR.
